Pressed Flowers

As I was looking around our Little Red House for something to show you, I spied the wall of pressed flowers in our tiny den.

I began collecting these a few years ago when I bought the two little framed pieces above at my favorite thrift store. I have since found them in antiques stores and at rummage sales, too.

I seem to have found a lot of pairs, which really helps when you are trying to create a balanced grouping on the wall.

I love it that they all have gold frames, which makes them perfect for my den or my library. And the pretty frame shapes are quite pleasing, too.

After two or three years of collecting, I now have enough to fill a small wall above the wing chair in our tiny den. There is really no room for any more, but I still have to stop myself from bringing home more when I find them.

Once a collector, always a collector. Or in other words, two is a pair, three is a collection. After that, beware. ;)

I'm linking this post to Three or more Tuesday, hosted by the lovely Tam, of

  2. My friend bought a collection of pressed flowers that were stored between the pages of a scrapbook many years ago with the intention of making cards and little pictures like yours. So far I don't think she has done it. Too bad because they are really cute.

  3. They do make for a nice wall grouping. I guess things we find in consignment shops are persons collections they grew tired of. One man's trash is another man's treasure, but I want to keep on getting em. Blessings

  15. Good morning, Mary. I love anything that involves flowers, as I know you do as well! And I particularly love pressed flowers. I've always yearned to do this, but somehow never managed to. I should put that on my list of projects. These framed pieces are quite lovely, and would grace any room splendidly.

Sorry I missed Mosaic Mon this week. I had a mob for Father's Day, lots of little ones running all over, so I needed a day to regroup! I was hoping you would come to the WHITE party...still time! :)

  23. Hi Mary, You have got quite a nice collection of pressed flower pictures, they're lovely! Also, i was wondering if you had any advice for me (I'm severely techno challenged) on how to better link onto Mosaic Monday next week? I know I'm doing something the wrong way but I don't know what. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you, Mary @ Boogieboard Cottage :O)
